The Cinema and Migration Festival has been organized since 2003 by the association “The Cultural Initiative” in Morrocco in the city of Agadir. It is a theme festival, hosting Moroccan and international films that deal with migrations or directors with multicultural background.
Yassine Fadel was very proud to bring with him this project to Agadir. First of all, because Agadir is his birth place but also because ISOLA is a wonderful movie with a heavy subject which is related to the migrant matter.
Being a lead role in such a movie was a blessing.
Isola written and directed by Fabianny Deschamps won the Best Achievement Award.
In addition to having won a prize, this film was able to be screened in front of many personality of the Moroccan cinema and seduced the public by the authenticity of its content. A subtle mix between reality and fiction due to the way the scenes are shot. We can see very strong and very dark images of the situation of Daï, this Chinese migrant mixed with images of Hicham, interpreted by Yassine, and her distress while he was trapped in a cage after having failed on a beach. In parallel, Fabianny Deschamps filmed real scenes of the situation of migrants arriving on Italian soil and fleeing their country. Images very hard to see but strikingly beautiful.
